Mediation

Picture
Court proceedings can be expensive and often distressing and antagonist. Only in exceptional cases is someone able to apply to a court in family proceedings without first exploring alternative methods of resolving their dispute. A potential applicant must attend a Mediation and Information Assessment Meeting Scheme (MIAMs) before embarking on a court timetabled application. Mediation is one way in which disputes can be resolved and Vanessa would consider with you the appropriateness of this method as one of a number of alternative Dispute Resolution (DR) options.
In mediation, trained mediators help separating couples to resolve disputes over finances or children, usually over the course of several meetings.
It's often best to get some initial advice from your solicitor before you go into mediation, so that you know what sort of outcomes may be appropriate and to make the mediation process as productive as possible. Vanessa would be happy to provide such advice so please contact her on 01483 887766 if you would like an appointment.
