Why am I blogging this? Because on Radio 4 this morning there was a short piece about lawyers, an interview with the very funny Clive Anderson and a quote from Shakespeare
about the need to 'kill all the lawyers'. Mr Epstein, a US lawyer, is attempting to put the record straight - Shakespeare did not intend his words to be a slur on lawyers.
Perhaps a better way to view lawyers is to be thankful to have one when you need one, as my lovely client Louise put in her recent email to me. Getting an email like this tells me that lawyers can make a difference.
I've been meaning to email you !! So so sorry for this late reply!
So: Hurrah I am divorced!!! and lo and behold 4 days after receiving the absolute papers from you, I get a text from X saying him and A are engaged.
Anyway - moreso - i want to thank you so very very much for being such a fabulous help for me and my family along the horrible road of divorce- you have been brilliant, patient, hard working and totally there for me, and I am so so grateful for you helping me navigate through such a difficult time.
I would absolutely love to have our long awaited lunch. When is good for you? The twins are with M this Wednesday from 2pm until fri morning so I could meet you for a late lunch on wed, or a normal lunch on Thursday. Of course I will sometimes have a weekend day free but totally understand you probably don't want to spend precious weekend time away from your family with an ex-client!
Just let me know what's best.
Looking forward and once again thank you so
much... L x"
